Following an Ofsted inspection in 2017 and a progress report, the Department for Education wrote on 6 June 2018 confirming that CACFO UK Education Centre meets all of the regulatory standards.

This follows a new Governing Body being formed by CACFO UK’s Chair of Trustees, Callton Young, to replace the previous model of Governance set up by the Local Authority.  The new Governing Body held its first meeting in January 2018 and meets regularly:

  • 16 January 2018
  • 22 January 2018
  •   8 March 2018
  • 29 March 2018
  • 14 June 2018
  • 12 July 2018 (Next)

In contrast to its predecessor, the new Governing Body is chaired by a Trustee, Adrian Dennis, who serves as Secretary to CACFO UK’s main Board.  Composition of the Governing Body is greatly improved too.  It now consists of a range of professionals, a significant number of whom are very experienced and from the field of education.  Membership is currently as follows:

Alderman and Freeman of Croydon, Adrian Dennis Bsc Hons (Chair) (Lead GDPR)

Justina Ilochi MA, MPhil

Roxanne Gleave BA, MA, Cert. Ed

Basil F G Muhammad B. Ed (Hons)

  • ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction of CACFO UK Education Centre;
  • holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the Centre and its pupils, and the performance management of staff;
  • overseeing the financial performance of the Centre and making sure its money is well spent;
  • overseeing the Centre’s compliance with standards set out in The Education (Independent School Standards) Regulations 2014, first to meet concerns raised in Ofsted’s 2017 inspection report and then to raise the Centre’s performance in general to ensure that standards are consistently met and with the aim of restoring performance to ‘good’ as previously assessed by Ofsted;
  • measuring progress and routinely reporting upon compliance to CACFO UK’s Board of Trustees (the Proprietor).
